Now more than ever we need to be doing all we can to stay healthy and protect ourselves. So, a few weeks ago while working in my favorite coffee shop, Urban Grind Roasters, I noticed something new on their menu: a Turmeric Latte with the tag line, “Immune Boost.” I decided to forego my usual delicious pour-over and try it.
WOW! That’s all I can say. I’ve heard about “Golden Milk” and “Turmeric Lattes” before. But, never tried one. Boy, was I missing out! It was the perfect balance of earthy and sweet; soothing and warm; and incredibly satisfying. So, I was inspired to come home and start working on my own recipe. I LOVE vegan golden milk!!!
To say I’ve become obsessed with turmeric lattes would be an understatement. It’s my new coffee and I make no apologies. There’s no caffeine so it can be enjoyed in the morning or evening. Yet, it’s still energizing. It’s also gluten-free and filled to the brim with nutrients. Could this get any better?
If you haven’t tried vegan golden milk there’s no better time than now! It’s super easy, requires just a few simple wholesome ingredients, and is ready in less than 5 minutes! Trust me, you won’t be sorry.

What Is Golden Milk
Golden Milk comes from the Ayurvedic tradition. A traditional golden milk recipe is a simple mixture of turmeric and hot milk and sometimes an extra spice or two.
Vegan golden milk uses non-dairy milk, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, a little pepper, and is sweetened with maple syrup. Then it all gets whisked together and creates the most deliciously rich, creamy, healthy, and relaxing beverage in the world.
The best thing about vegan golden milk is how easy it is to make! There’s a good chance you already have all of the ingredients in your pantry and refrigerator.
Ingredients You’ll Need
The best thing about this recipe is there are no fancy ingredients. You’ll need the following basic ingredient for this plant-based turmeric Golden Milk recipe:
- Non-dairy milk: I used unsweetened almond milk. Oat milk and cashew milk are great as well because they’re so creamy.
- Turmeric powder: The obvious star of the show and the reason it’s called “golden milk.”
- Ginger: I used dried ginger powder because of the convenience. But, you would use fresh ginger if you prefer.
- Cinnamon: Cinnamon adds extra warmth and spice that works really well with the turmeric.
- Vanilla: For depth of flavor and sweetness to balance out the earthiness of the other spices.
- Maple Syrup: For sweetness. You could also use agave, date sugar, or honey (not vegan).
- Pepper: I know it sounds weird, but it actually serves a purpose. Turmeric contains curcumin and when paired with pepper it can boost its benefits.
